I am a Learning Specialist in charge of coordinating learning outcomes research at the Academic Success Center. We help urban students become more successful in college and I help to measure our effectiveness. We look at whether our office helps students to be successful and avoid dropping out of the university. We also investigate ways to improve our office.
I also serve as an assessment specialist to the office of the provost. We research the effectiveness of a number of retention initiatives on campus. We are working to improve assessment efforts across campus.
Research Projects
I collaborate with Ira Firestone and pursue research on attitudes and persuasion in the Conjunction Function Research Group. As a part of this group, I have studied the functional approach toward attitudes. We have found that direct attitude measurement reduces error and improves predictions. We've studied this in relationship to automobiles and exit exams.
